(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Addressing leaders of NAM countries in the Iranian capital, Dr Singh said that the movement will help preserve strategic space for countries like India.
The statement assumes significant as many countries across the world have been skeptical of NAM’s relevance in the present uni-polar world.
“Today's structures for global governance remain driven by power equations of the past,” Dr Singh said at the NAM Summit.
“The current structures for global governance inadequate in dealing with economic and political,” he added.
The Prime Minister said India supports a democratic and pluralistic world order.
Terming the situation in Syria as a matter of concern, the Prime Minister said the ongoing crisis should be resolved peacefully. He urged a Syria-led political approach to resolve the crisis.
He also hailed the African countries saying that it is a very important bloc and will help in NAM’s growth.
The 16th NAM Summit opened in Tehran on Thursday.
